Has anyone read the book The Shining?

Has anyone read the book The Shining?
Or watched the movie. What did you think of both of them and was the book better then the movie. What I saw of the movie the book was much better. However I think Jack Nicholsan was perfect for the part.

jack did do a great job...the wife whoever played her part sincerely sucked in the movie....she was a much stronger character in the book...the bad thing about books turned movies is that unless the movie is about hours long then the characters are completely underdeveloped....so the book was better, but the movie was still really well done
